Across Franklin County, childcare centers are stepping up to support infant feeding in ways that are both practical and powerful.
Over the past year, three childcare providers worked closely with Breastfeed Franklin to create dedicated lactation spaces, update their written policies, and apply for the North Carolina Breastfeeding-Friendly Childcare Designation. These changes help staff, parents, and babies—supporting bonding, nutrition, and continuity of care.
We know that providers face barriers: time, paperwork, tight budgets, limited space. That’s why we don’t just offer a checklist—we walk with them. We bring toys for the kids while we talk. We bring printed applications and offer policy help on-site.
And we celebrate every win. These three centers have set the tone for what’s possible. This year, we’ll revisit others who were interested but not quite ready and launch a second round of outreach.
When providers feel supported, families do too. And that’s how change grows.
